Miami Heat selected the shooting guard as the 13th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Herro went to the University of  Kentucky, where he averaged 14 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists a game. He was second on his team in scoring, assists and steals, and was fourth in rebounds.

In his rookie season in 2019-2020, Herro played 55 games and finished the season with 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. The Heat went to the NBA Finals that year, where Tyler averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3 assists. He completed the season with an all rookie second team that same year. In 2022, Tyler Herro won the Sixth Man of the Year award, averaging 20.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

There were trade rumors circling Tyler Herro in order to equip Damian Lillard in a package during the 2023 offseason, after losing the NBA Finals. Herro has already made it clear that the rumors don't intrigue him, and has kept practicing no matter the outcome.

Herro has worked hard every summer despite the trade rumors and has shown improvement each year. While injuries have delayed his basketball performance in seasons, he has always come back stronger than before.

Tyler Herro is having an amazing breakout season so far and has been selected to be an All-Star for the first time in his NBA career. He is proving to the league that he is All-Star material and is making a name for himself as the new face of the Miami Heat.

He is one of only two Miami Heat players to average 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while shooting 40% or more from three-point range. The only other player who has ever done that is four-time champion LeBron James, who accomplished that in his 2012-2013 season with the Heat.

With Jimmy Butler's near departure from the Heat, Tyler Herro is making this Heat team his own, helped by a young supporting cast such as Bam Adebayo, and rising stars such as Kel’el Ware, Nikola Jovic, and Jaime Jaquez Jr.
