Doing Fantasy Baseball? Here’s Who You Should Draft!

Don’t know what players to draft for your fantasy baseball league? No problem, we’ve got you covered. It is a no-brainer that you should draft Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, two of the best and most loved players in the league. But who else should you add to your roster?

Starting Pitchers

Tarik Skubal and Chris Sale won the Cy Young Award in their leagues. In the 2024 season, Skubal had an earned run average of 2.39 and Sale’s was 2.38. Shohei Ohtani is a pitcher you will want to have on your side, While it is still unclear when he will start pitching, at least you will have a power (designated) hitter on your team. The National League Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes is guaranteed to have an amazing year. How could you not want to draft someone that had a 1.96 era?

Relief Pitchers

Luke Weaver is a good choice for a relief pitcher. Last season Weaver record seven wins and three losses with an era of 2.89. Closer Mason Miller is entering his third big league season. With an era of 2.49, you will want to get him on your team before someone else does. In April of 2024, he was the American League pitcher for the month, and a few months later he was an All-Star. Emmanuel Clase and Devin Williams are two of the best closers in baseball. In the 2024 season Clase had an era of 0.61 and Williams’ was 1.25.

Catchers

Adley Rutchman, William Contreras, and Salvador Pérez are currently three of the best catchers in baseball. In addition to them, Austin Wells and Logan O’Hoppe are great choices. They are both at the start of their career but can make some clutch saves.

First Base

Some of the best players in the league currently play first base. Freddie Freeman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Bryce Harper are all players you should consider drafting. If they are all drafted before you get your turn to draft, Christian Walker and Luiz Arraez are also good options. Any of these players will bring you some big points for your team.

Second Base

For second base you are going to want to have the seven-time Silver Slugger Jose Altuve on your roster. Along with being great at second base, Altuve is an excellent hitter. You might also want to try to get Marcus Semien and Ozzie Albies who are both previous All-Stars and have made their mark in the league.

Third Base

Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, and José Ramírez are all excellent at third base and all great at the plate. Ramírez won the 2024 Silver Slugger for American League third baseman. Arenado is a six-time Gold Glove winner. Bregman won the 2024 AL Gold Glove for third base.

Shortstops

For shortstops, you should draft two former Gold Glove winners. Bobby Witt Jr, the 2024 winner, and 2023 winner Anthony Volpe are amazing defensive players. Now that Mookie Betts is moving back to shortstop, he should also be one of your top choices and you definitely do not want to miss out on him. Elly De La Cruz and Gunnar Henderson are also great at their position and will bring you some big points if you draft them.

Outfield

Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Kyle Tucker would be great choices for right field. All three were All-Stars this past season. In addition to all three being great in the outfield, they all are excellent hitters. For centerfield, all of the young players come to mind to draft. Jackson Merrill, Corbin Carroll, and Julio Rodríguez. Yordan Alvarez, Jackson Chourio, and Teoscar Hernández are some left-fielders you will want to have on your team.

Names For Your Team

Now that you know who to draft, you need a team name. You can name your team after your favorite baseball team or even your favorite player. If you draft Shohei Ohtani you can name your team, “It’s Showtime”. If you were able to get Aaron Judge, “All Rise” can be your team name.
