Let The Games Begin: The Olympics Medaling Events Schedule

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics kicks off today!


NBC will be airing the opening and closing ceremonies and the most anticipated events of the Games, but Peacock will be the place to watch every Olympic event live.


And if you’re wondering which events take place when, then you’re in the right place! The Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, and I am going to give you the schedule for every medal event at the Olympics!


Friday, July 26

The Opening Ceremony, which can be viewed on NBC and Peacock, will begin at 1:30 PM EST (all of the times I will be including will be in EST, which is 6 hours behind Paris), with coverage beginning at noon. The Parade of Nations, in which the thousands of athletes competing march in with their countries, will take place on the Seine in a boat parade. Once the Olympic flame is lit, the Games will have officially begun!


Saturday, July 27

The first day of the competition is jam-packed.


Saturday will see finals in the men’s and women’s 400m freestyle (tune in at 2:30 PM to see 

Katie Ledecky’s first event of the 2024 Olympics!) and men’s and women’s 4x100m freestyle relay. The first medaling event for diving, the women’s 3m synchronized platform, also takes place.


Other finals for the day include the time trial for cycling road racing, men’s street event for skateboarding, women’s épée and men’s sabre in fencing, women’s 48 kg and men’s 60 kg weight classes in judo, and the mixed 10m air rifle team event in shooting.


Rugby sevens are already underway, and the medals for the men will be awarded in the matches taking place this day.


Gymnastics begins with the qualification round for men’s artistic gymnastics, which determines the finalists for the team and individual event finals.


Sunday, July 28

Medaling events for this day include the men’s 100m breaststroke, men’s 400m individual medley, and women’s 100m butterfly in swimming; the women’s team event in archery; the women’s K-1 in canoe slalom; women's cross-country mountain biking; the women’s skateboarding street event; the women’s foil and men’s épée in fencing; the women’s 52 kg and men’s 66 kg in judo; and the 10m air pistol in shooting.


The women’s artistic gymnastics qualifications take place and will give viewers the first glimpse of Simone Biles in her return to the Olympics.


Monday, July 29

The first gymnastics medals will be given out with the men’s team event.


Other medaling events for this day are the men’s and women’s 200m freestyle, men’s 100m backstroke, women’s 100m breaststroke, and women’s 400m individual medley; the men’s 10m synchronized platform diving; the men’s archery team event; the men’s C-1 in canoe slalom; the men’s cross-country mountain biking; the women’s sabre and men’s foil in fencing; the women’s 57 kg and men’s 73 kg in judo; the 10m air rifle in shooting; mixed doubles in table tennis; and equestrian team and individual jumping.


Tuesday, July 30

The long-awaited women’s artistic gymnastics team finals take place at 12:15 PM.


Finals also happening on this day are the men’s 800m, men’s 4x200m freestyle relay, and women’s 100m backstroke finals; women’s team épée in fencing; the women’s 63 kg and men’s 81 kg in judo; the mixed 10m air pistol team and men’s trap in shooting; the men’s individual triathlon; and the women's rugby sevens (for all three medals).


Wednesday, July 31

Katie Ledecky will be back in the pool for her best event: the 1500m freestyle. Swimming finals will also take place for the men’s and women’s 100m freestyle, men’s 200m backstroke, and 200m butterfly. The women’s 10m synchronized platform diving final also takes place.


Medals will also be given out in the men’s gymnastics individual all-around competition; the C-1 for canoeing; quadruple sculls for rowing; surfing (in Tahiti); the men’s and women’s BMX freestyle; the men’s team sabre in fencing; the women’s 70 kg and men’s 90 kg in judo; the women’s trap in shooting; and the women’s individual triathlon.


Thursday, August 1

Simone Biles will look to make history in the women’s gymnastics all-around final at 12:15 PM.


Other medaling events this day are the men’s 200m backstroke, women’s 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, and 4x200m freestyle relay; the men's canoe slalom K-1; the double sculls and men’s and women’s four finals in rowing; the women’s 49er FX and men’s 49er in sailing; the women's team foil in fencing;  the women’s 78 kg and men’s 100 kg in judo; the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions for shooting; and track begins with the men’s and women’s 20km race walk.


Friday, August 2

On this day, medals will be given out for the men’s 50m freestyle, men’s 200m individual medley, and women’s 200m backstroke; men’s 3m synchronized springboard diving; men’s and women’s trampoline; the men’s 10,000m in track; the mixed team in archery; mixed doubles in badminton and tennis; men’s and women’s BMX racing; equestrian team jumping event; the men’s team épée in fencing; women’s +78 kg and men’s +100 kg in judo; single sculls, pairs, and lightweight double sculls in rowing; the IQFoil medals in sailing; and the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions in shooting. Additionally, the men’s decathlon begins.


Saturday, August 3

This will be a day to watch for Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles, and Sha’Carri Richardson, with finals for the 800m freestyle, vault, and 100m. 


Other swimming events include the women’s 200m individual medley, men’s 100m butterfly, and the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay. Event finals for gymnastics on this day also include the men’s floor exercise and pommel horse. Track and field is in full swing with finals for the women’s triple jump, men’s shot put, and the 4x400 mixed relay. Medals will be awarded for the men’s decathlon.


More final events on this day are women’s archery (individual); women’s badminton doubles; women’s table tennis singles; women’s singles and men’s doubles in tennis; men’s cycling road race; equestrian team dressage; women’s team sabre in fencing; the mixed team event in judo; single sculls and men’s and women’s eight in rowing; and the women’s 25m pistol and men’s skeet in shooting.


Sunday, August 4

The last day for the pool events includes the women’s 50m freestyle, men’s 1500m freestyle, and both 4x100m medley relays.


Medals will be given out in gymnastics for uneven bars, men’s vault, and rings; in track and field for the women’s high jump, men’s 100m, and men’s hammer throw; in archery for the men (individual); in badminton for men’s doubles; in table tennis for men’s singles; in tennis for women’s doubles and men’s singles; in cycling for women’s road racing; in equestrian for the individual dressage; in fencing for the men’s team foil; in shooting for the women’s skeet; and in golf for the men.


Monday, August 5

On the last day of the competition for artistic gymnastics, medals will be awarded in women’s floor exercise and balance beam, parallel bars, and horizontal/high bar. If you see me crying because this could be the last time we see Simone Biles compete, yeah, you do.


There will also be finals for women’s 800m, women’s discus, and men’s pole vault; the triathlon mixed relay; women’s and men’s singles in badminton; the men’s and women’s kayak cross in the canoe slalom; the women’s team sprint in track cycling; the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol and mixed skeet team in shooting; and men’s and women’s 3x3 basketball.


Tuesday, August 6

Medals will be given out on this day for the women’s 200m, women’s 5000m, women’s hammer throw, men’s 1500m, and men’s long jump; women’s 10m platform diving;  the women’s ILCA 6 and men’s ILCA 7 in sailing; men’s track cycling team sprint; women’s park in skateboarding; equestrian individual jumping; the women’s 60 kg weight class in boxing; and the women’s freestyle 68 kg and men’s Greco-Roman 60 kg and 130 kg in wrestling.


Wednesday, August 7

Katie Moon competes on this day in the pole vault finals! Other track and field events this day are the men’s 400m, 3000m steeplechase, and discus, as well as the marathon race walking mixed relay, a new event this Olympics.


The first medaling event for artistic swimming, the team acrobatic routine, takes place. Medals will also be given out in the men’s and women’s team pursuit in track cycling; the men’s park event in skateboarding; women’s speed in sport climbing; the 470 and Nacra 17 for sailing; the men’s 63.5 kg and 80 kg in boxing; the women’s 49 kg and men’s 58 kg in taekwondo; the women’s 49 kg and men’s 61 kg in weightlifting; and the women’s freestyle 50 kg and men’s Greco-Roman 77 kg and 97 kg in wrestling.


Thursday, August 8

Get ready to watch more records be broken as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone competes in the 400m hurdles! Other track and field events happening are the women’s 3000m steeplechase, long jump, and beginning of the heptathlon, and the men’s 200m, 110m hurdles, and javelin.


Medals will also be awarded this day in women’s marathon swimming; men’s 3m springboard diving; the men’s and women’s C-2 500m and K-4 500m in canoe sprint; the formula kite in sailing; the women’s keirin and the points race for the men’s omnium in track cycling; the men’s speed event for sport climbing; the women’s 54 kg and men’s 51 kg in boxing; women’s 57 kg and men’s 68 kg in taekwondo; the women’s 59 kg and men’s 73 kg in weightlifting; and the women’s freestyle 53 kg and men’s Greco-Roman 67 kg and 87 kg in wrestling.


This day will also see the medal matches for men’s field hockey and the bronze medal match for men’s football.


Friday, August 9

The long-awaited Olympic debut of breaking takes place with the final for women’s breaking.


The silver and gold medalists in men’s football will be determined, as well as the bronze medalists in women’s football and men’s volleyball. Medals will also be awarded in women's field hockey and beach volleyball.


Medals will also be given out for the women’s 400m, 10,000m, 4x100m relay, triple jump, heptathlon, men’s 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay, and triple jump; the individual all-around in rhythmic gymnastics; women’s 3m springboard diving; men’s marathon swimming; the women’s C-1 200m and K-2 500m and men’s K-2 500m in canoe sprints; the women’s madison and men’s sprint in track cycling; the men’s combined event in sport climbing; men’s table tennis team; the women’s 50 kg and 66 kg and men’s 71 kg and 92 kg in boxing; the women’s 67 kg and men’s 80 kg in taekwondo; the women’s 71 kg and men’s 89 kg in weightlifting; and the women’s freestyle 57 kg and men’s freestyle 57 kg and 86 kg in wrestling.


Saturday, August 10

The medals for women’s water polo will be determined on this day, keep an eye on the dominant Team USA! Also watch for the gold medal matches in women’s football, women’s handball, men’s volleyball, and men’s basketball.


More medaling events include the women’s 1500m, 100m hurdles, 4x400m relay, and javelin,  men’s marathon, 800m, 5000m, 4x400m relay, and high jump; the men’s modern pentathlon; the artistic swimming duets; the rhythmic gymnastics team event; men’s 10m platform diving; men’s breaking; men’s madison in track cycling; the women’s combined event in sport climbing; women’s golf; women’s table tennis; the women’s K-1 500m, men’s C-1 1000m, and men’s K-1 1000m in canoe sprints; the women’s 57 kg, 75 kg, men’s 57 kg, and +92 kg in boxing; the women’s +67 kg and men’s +80 kg in taekwondo; women’s 81 kg, men’s 102 kg, and men’s +102 kg in weightlifting; and the women’s freestyle 62 kg and men’s freestyle 74 kg and 125 kg in wrestling.


Sunday, August 11

The last day of competition is just as full as the first. 


The medals for women's basketball will be awarded. Can Team USA continue its gold medal streak?


Medals will also be awarded for women’s volleyball; men’s water polo; men’s handball; the women’s sprint, the points race for women’s omnium, and the men’s keirin in track cycling; the women’s modern pentathlon; the women’s marathon; the women’s +81 kg in weightlifting; the women’s freestyle 76 kg and men’s freestyle 65 kg and 97 kg in wrestling.


After all of the events, the Closing Ceremony will commence, and feature a presentation by Los Angeles, the next host of the Olympics.
