MLB Players That Are Currently Injured

Unfortunately, injuries are a part of all sports, baseball is no exception. Each year MLB teams are faced with injuries that at times may affect their chase for the pennant. There are currently many injuries happening in the MLB, here are some players that are currently on the Injured List (IL).


Ronald Acuña Jr. - torn ACL

The Braves right fielder got hurt in late May with a season-ending injury. Acuña tore his ACL in his left knee. The tear happened when he was running the bases. The injury was an upset to the baseball world since Acuña is one of the most loved and exciting players to watch right now. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the 2025 season.






Mookie Betts- left hand fracture

Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts was placed on the 10-day IL and will be out for six to eight weeks. During the Dodgers game on June 16, Betts got hit by a pitch which resulted in a fracture on his hand. Betts getting hurt was another upset in baseball since he is one of the best in the MLB.




Mike Trout- torn meniscus

The center fielder for the Angels got injured in late April. Trout had to have surgery for the tear in his meniscus in May. The exact moment when his injury occurred is unknown. Trout started to feel pain in his knee after a game and got an MRI. The Angels have been struggling without Trout on the field. 



Anthony Rizzo- arm fracture

Yankees first baseman has been placed on the 60-day IL after a collision at first base on June 16. They originally expected Rizzo to be out for about eight weeks. Rizzo will not be doing any baseball activities for about five weeks. In place of him, the Yankees called up their number 12 prospect, Ben Rice, from triple-A.


Kyle Tucker- right shin contusion

Right fielder for the Houston Astros was placed on the 10-day IL on June 4. He has a right shin contusion after a ball fouled off of his shin. Tucker might have to have a rehab assignment before he can be back fully. 










Bo Bichette- right calf strain

Shortstop for the Blue Jays has been placed on the 10-day IL with a right calf strain. The strain happened on Sunday. In place of Bichette, the Blue Jays called up their number two prospect Orelvis Martinez.








Yoshinobu Yamamoto- strained rotator cuff

The Dodgers pitcher was placed on the 15-day IL because of a right rotator cuff strain. 

When he pitched at Yankee Stadium in the beginning of June, Yamamoto first noticed the issue. He was throwing extremely hard pitches, many at 98 miles an hour. Yamamoto is expected to be back in mid to late July.
