My First Trip to PNC Park: A Stadium Review

When I was younger, my dad and I created a goal: to visit every MLB stadium together. While finding games that align with our schedule has been hard, it’s even harder to get to watch my favorite team, the New York Yankees, at each stadium.

However, this past weekend I got the chance to cross stadium number six off of my bucket list and visit Pittsburgh for the first time. Before going, I had seen so many great things about the stadium and was super excited to see it in person.

The walk to the stadium was super unique, being that you have to cross the Roberto Clemente Bridge to make it to the gate. Since I’m used to just walking down a street in the Bronx to make it to Yankee Stadium, I really enjoyed the scenic walk and view over the river to make it to PNC Park.

Once you make it inside, you’re greeted by the riverwalk, the portion of the stadium that is completely outdoors. To me, this is the most charming part of the stadium and really what makes it super special. This portion of the stadium is home to some unique food options, areas for kids to play, and tables for groups to hang out at.

Once we finished walking the riverwalk, we made our way upstairs to check out the rest of the stadium. Once we made it behind home plate, it solidified how this was easily the most beautiful stadium I’ve been to yet. While everyone online hypes up the skyline that’s visible from home plate, nothing could have prepared me for actually seeing it in person. The only complaint is the fact that it was raining. This view accompanied with a sunny day would have been amazing.

Whenever I go to games, you can typically find me in the outfield. I had to continue along with the tradition and sit in right field at PNC Park to truly get the same effect. The view of the game from my seats was amazing, and quite a few balls were hit my way in the Yankees 10-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The game itself was an amazing experience, and a blow out win for the Yankees. I got to see two home runs from Trent Grisham, and everyone in the starting lineup got on base. There were a ton of Yankee fans in the areas around me, and it was great to experience a game out of our home stadium with them.

For food, I decided to try one of their newest options, the Cannonballs. These were small fried dough balls filled with cheese, bacon, kielbasa, cabbage, and egg noodles. While they weren’t my favorite, I did enjoy how different they were. You definitely can’t find an option like this at another stadium.

Overall, there are so many reasons why PNC Park was my favorite stadium I’ve been to so far. The atmosphere and scenery can’t be beat, and the stadium design was one that I hadn’t seen before. If you’re wondering which stadium you should visit next, PNC Park is an excellent choice. I can’t wait to make my way back soon.
