As the Arizona Coyotes are unsure about the future of their franchise, Kansas City star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has decided to take matters into his own hands. Mahomes tweeted out on May 17, " KC coyotes has a nice ring to it! @NHL what y’all think? @tmobilecenter."

Aside from football, Mahomes has shown an interest in the business side of sports. He is a part owner of the Kansas City Royals, the professional baseball team, and professional soccer team, Sporting Kansas City. He is the first NFL player to own equity in a National Women's Soccer League team, Kansas City Current.
NHL fans in Kansas City, including the mayor, support the idea of The Coyotes' relocation to Missouri since Kansas City is a thriving sports market. However, Makayla Perkins, the social media director for the Arizona Coyotes, disagrees.
Perkins responded to the tweet by saying, "Maybe you should focus on keeping your little brother out of jail and less on our NHL team."

This tweet stems from an incident at Aspen Restaurant in Kansas City involving the owner and Jackson Mahomes. Restaurant owner Aspen Vaugh accused Mahomes of grabbing her by the neck and forcibly kissing her. Video footage of the incident was captured by security cameras and has since gone viral creating public outrage.

The Mahomes family and lawyer denied any allegations when the incident first went public. He has since been arrested and has been released on bail for 100,000 dollars. He is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and an additional account of misdemeanor battery.
Due to Jackson's legal troubles, Patrick Mahomes has been the subject of unwanted negative attention and his reputation has been negatively affected. The social media director of the Arizona Coyotes and many others believe that Mahomes owning a team in Kansas City is not the best decision considering he stands behind the actions of his brother.
