The 2025 Major League Baseball spring training caps were just released, and six teams were revealed to have new designs. The Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and Tampa Bay Rays have one new cap, and the New York Yankees with two, meanwhile, the rest of the teams kept their same designs from last year.
Pittsburgh Pirates
This cap is very different from years past. They typically just have their logo on a yellow cap. This is a very fun one and brings a whole new vibe with the pirate over the baseball bats. The cap gives off a Pirates of the Caribbean-esque feel! The Pirates hat from last year’s spring training is pretty similar to their regular season hat, with a black “P” written across a yellow crown, making it an overall more vibrant design.
New York Yankees' Pinstripes
Similar to the Pirates, the Yankees usually do not stray from the Yankees logo on a navy blue hat. This cap matches their regular season home uniform which features the classic pinstripes. This is a great hate for fans who want to rock the pinstripes but do not want to wear a jersey!
Minnesota Twins
The simplicity of the Twins’ hat is part of what makes it so great. The colors of the hat with the “M” looks so clean cut and it’s not an overwhelming hat. The 2024 spring training hat was the same blue and red colors but instead of an “M” there were two flags, one had the letter “M”, the other had “S”. Last years’ cap definitely had more character to it.
New York Yankees' Gray
This second Yankees hat is extremely simple but so different from their usual. The gray and blue hat is very new and fresh for them. The Yankees are known for being traditional and not switching up their jerseys and hats so it is always nice when they do something new. The simplicity of the hat gives it that traditional Yankee look while straying away from the normal navy blue hat.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles’ cap is one of the best ones of all 30 teams. Last year, the cap was all orange with the O’s logo in black. Changing the brim of the hat to black makes a huge difference and the design is so clean. When it comes to a simple but clean design, the Orioles definitely know what they are doing.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays’ new spring training hat is similar to last year’s but the small changes that were made changed the whole vibe of the hat. Last year’s was all yellow and the logo was blue. While similar, this hat is a big improvement from last year’s. Usually, when you think of Floria you think of warm, beautiful weather, and this hat screams warm weather.
New York Mets
The Mets’ hat is by far the best one. This hat is fun and vibrant and much different than all of the others which is what makes it so good. This hat gives off warm weather vibes. This is easily one of the best spring training hats in the league. It is good to see the Mets still have money left for merchandise design after signing Juan Soto.
Honorable Mentions

While the 24 other teams did not design new hats, there are a few worth mentioning. The Diamondbacks probably have the best spring training cap there is. The hat is a beautiful baby blue with the snake on it, which is so different from their regular season hat and was such a good move for the D-backs. The Marlins hat is also one of the best ones. While it is very similar to their regular season hat, the blue instead of their typically black hat makes it pop so much more.
The Tigers’ all-orange hat with a tiger on it is so bold and vibrant. They had fun with this hat and it is so different from anything they typically wear. Lastly, the Phillies. The hat is all red with the Liberty Bell in blue. Adding a historical Philadelphia landmark is very different from what all of the other teams do and makes them stand out a lot more. It strays away from all of their regular season hats and even uniforms and adds a fun story.
