Take Your Pick: 2024 MLB Free Agents

As the 2024 MLB season is slowly coming to an end, many fans are speculating where free agents are going to end up in the offseason. For players that will be free agents, they can sign with a new team as soon as five days after the last World Series game.

Here are some players that will be free agents after this season!

Juan Soto signed a one-year contract with the New York Yankees in Dec. 2023 and has since done incredible things for the team. Right now, it is speculated that Soto will stay with the Yankees, or move down to Queens to join the New York Mets. Though Yankee fans do not want to see Soto leave. During many games towards the end of the regular season, fans were chanting “Re-sign Soto.”

Last year, Alonso signed a one-year contract with the New York Mets. He signed with the Mets in 2016 and made his MLB debut in 2019. Since 2019, every contract he has had has only been for the span of a year. Throughout this season, he has said he wants to stay with the Mets, and the fans hope he does too.

Alex Bregman’s five-year contract with the Houston Astros is up after this season. He has been with the Astros since 2015, with only one-year contracts until he signed a 5-year, $100 million extension in 2019. Bregman has been a huge part of the team and fans would hate to see him go to another team.

Corbin Burnes signed with the Baltimore Orioles in the offseason this past year with a one-year contract. Before that, Burnes was with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2016 to 2023. With Burnes being one of the best pitchers in the league, the fight for him will be a big one.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been with the Toronto Blue Jays since he signed with them at the start of his career in 2015. In 2018, started playing in the majors. Since 2019, he has been on one-year contracts with the Blue Jays, including the 2024 baseball season. Guerrero is one of the best players on the Blue Jays and plays a huge role for them, so he would be a tough one to let go.

Gerrit Cole

Gerrit Cole was signed as a free agent to the New York Yankees at the end of 2019 and has since been the team’s ace. In 2020, Cole signed an eight-year contract but can choose to opt-out after this season. Cole is one of the best pitchers in the MLB, and fans would definitely like to see him stay in New York.
