The NWSL is Being Noticed Now

The National Women’s Soccer League started their 2024-25 season in March, and a few of the teams have made history by setting new attendance records this season. Women’s soccer has been overlooked by many soccer fans for years now, but it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves. Fans are interested in and enjoying coming out to the stadium to watch a NWSL game. Women’s soccer matters and more fans than ever are watching the game grow.

Here are some of the record-breaking stadium attendance facts in the NWSL this season so far:


The Kansas City Current has an 11,500-seat arena that is already sold out for every home game of the season. In the Current’s thrilling 5-4 win over the Portland Thorns, viewership on ABC reached 614,000 people – the 2nd most viewed NWSL regular season match.

Many NWSL home openers have had the largest crowds ever seen at some stadiums. Attendance at the Houston Dash home opener against Racing Louisville FC reached a high of 8,600 fans.

The Washington Spirit had their biggest home opener ever with 11,734 people in their 2-1 win over Bay FC.

The San Diego Wave FC set a new home opener attendance record with 32,066 people.

Bay FC had their first sell out in their inaugural game against the Houston Dash with 18,000 people. It has already been, and will continue to be, a historic ride for this team.
