Ever wondered what teams have won the most trophies in the world? What team won the Stanley Cup more than anyone else? Who has the most World Series under their belt? Or maybe what team has been crowned champion of Europe the most? Below is a list of the top seven sports leagues in the world and the team with the most championships.

NFL
The Green Bay Packers have won the most championships in the NFL. Since joining the league in 1921, they have won the NFL championship nine times and have won the Super Bowl four times, for a total of 13 trophies. The Chicago Bears are in second place with nine championships.

MLB
The New York Yankees have played in 40 World Series, winning 27 of them. They have the most championships of any major sports team in North America. The Yankees won their first World Series in 1923 against the then New York Giants. They won their most recent championship in 2009 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

NBA
The Los Angeles Lakers are regarded as the most successful NBA team. The Lakers have won the championship a total of 17 times, tied with the Boston Celtics. The team won their first championship in 1949 and won their most recent in 2020. On two occasions, the Lakers won three years in a row, in 1952, 1953, 1954, and 2000, 2001, 2002.

Premier League
Since the formation of the Premier League in 1992, Manchester United has won a total of 13 times. Winning the inaugural Premier League title in 1992 to winning the clubs last title in the 2012-13 season all under the same manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. Since his retirement in 2013, United has not won the league or been runners up three times.

NHL
No team has hoisted the Stanley Cup more times than the Montreal Canadiens, with 24 wins. Winning their first in 1930 against the Boston Bruins and their most recent in 1993 against the Los Angeles Kings. The Canadiens last appearance in the Stanley Cup final was in 2021 against the Tampa Bay Lighting where they lost the series 4-1. They are the last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup.

La Liga
Real Madrid have won the La Liga title a total of 36 times. With the league being founded in 1929, in its 95 year history, only nine different clubs have been crowned winners. Most recently, Real Madrid won its 36th title in the 2023-24 season.

Champions League
Since its introduction in 1955, 23 different clubs have won the Champions League. Real Madrid won their first title in the 1955-56 season and won their most recent in the 2023-24 season. The Spanish club has won the tournament a total of 15 times. In the last 11 years Real Madrid has won six of those 11 seasons. For comparison, the runners up with the most trophies is AC Milan who have seven.
