Year Of Big Home Run Stats: Aaron Judge Making Home Run History Again!

Aaron Judge cannot stop breaking home run records.  At 32, Judge is currently this season's home run leader with 47 home runs so far and is on track to hit many more. Along with being the home run leader, Judge just made history by hitting over 300  home runs!

On Aug. 14, Judge hit his 300th career home run versus the White Sox at the top of the eighth inning to add three more runs to the Yankees’ 6-2 lead. On August 13, 2016, Judge hit his first major league home run. Then eight years and one day later, he hit his 300th. This made him the fastest player to hit 300 home runs all within a span of eight years, with the least number of games played  (955). He broke the record by over 100 games. With previous record holder  Ralph Kiner hitting his 300th home run in 1,087 games. Juan Soto had already hit four homers in two out of three games of the series, so the pitcher decided to intentionally walk him. Fans did not like this, and neither did Judge. The count was three and zero, and it was a green light to be walked when Judge hit an absolute bomb making it his 300th career homer.

This season alone, Judge has hit 47 home runs, making him the current home run leader in Major League Baseball. Under him on the leaderboard are: Shohei Ohtani (39), Anthony Santander (37), Marcell Ozuna (37) and Juan Soto (36).  Although he had an unexpected rough start to the season, Judge has been electric this season. In March he did not hit any home runs and in April he hit only six. After that, things started to speed up for the Captain, more than doubling his total with 14 home runs in May.

On the pace Judge is on, it is possible he breaks his own season record. In 2022, Judge broke Roger Maris’ 1961 home run record of 61 home runs in one season. The anticipation for Judge to do this was extremely high. He finished the season with 62 home runs. Once Judge hit the 60 mark, the last two felt long overdue. Pitchers continued to walk him, prolonging the historic event. Fans began to worry that because Judge was being walked so often, the season would end before Judge beat the single-season record, but that surely did not happen. Once he hit the record-breaking run, his 62nd came shortly after that. It was an amazing event and fans across the nation were ecstatic to witness history in the making.
